Nephrostomy and Nephroureteral Stent Placement Nephroureteral Stent Placement
|
Patients with ureteral narrowing, an obstructing stone or a tear of the ureter, may need a ureteral stent placed. This procedure, which is done following the nephrostomy procedure, helps open the clogged ureter and provide drainage into the bladder and healing of the ureter.
Key Advantages:
- Can be done on an outpatient procedure
- Can be performed under local anesthesia and intravenous sedation as needed
- May reduce the need for further surgery
