Nephrostomy and Nephroureteral Stent Placement
Nephroureteral Stent Placement

Patients with ureteral narrowing, an obstructing stone or a tear of the ureter, may need a ureteral stent placed. This procedure, which is done following the nephrostomy procedure, helps open the clogged ureter and provide drainage into the bladder and healing of the ureter.

Key Advantages:

  • Can be done on an outpatient procedure

  • Can be performed under local anesthesia and intravenous sedation as needed

  • May reduce the need for further surgery
