Feeding Tube Placements
Gastrojejunostomy

In Gastrojejunostomy, the same technique used in gastrostomy is applied, however this tube goes through skin and into stomach, then passes into the upper small intestine. This type of feeding tube is favored in some patients who have bad reflux into the esophagus creating a risk of aspirating stomach contents into the lungs.

Key Advantages:

  • Low morbidity

  • High success rate

  • Can be performed despite the patients’ altered mental status, head and neck malignancy or even a moderate size hiatal hernia

  • Performed under local anesthesia
